This amazing British singer was born in London on 6th February, 1966.
If Mohammed Rafi is my favorite hindi singer, Shantideb Ghosh in Bengali then Rick Astley is most probably my favorite in English. Not in the sense of how many songs I love by these artists or how much they have mastered their arts or such analytical things, my definition of liking is how much they fill up my entire being, and when it comes to that these three rock my world!
As I have told you when I talked about Mohammed Rafi, the legendary hindi movie singer how his very voice trickles down like honey through my ear drums, Rick has the same effect, as for Shantideb Ghosh, being blessed with the words of Tagore his voice aims straight for my soul, heart, the whole being!
I was an instant fan of Rick Astley when I first heard him singing “When I fall in love” and that song will be my forever favorite love song, one or two songs will come to the same pedestal but rest will hover just a wee bit lower than this song.
I have loved almost all songs of his first album I believe, never gonna give you up, whenever you need somebody, together forever, it would take a strong strong man, but soon after that he vanished, now I know that he has left music industry and was busy with his family life that consists of his wife Lene Bausager and daughter Emille. He was too frustrated with the business side of music industry! One wonders why!!!! Ha! Anyways, that made us lose one of the most beautiful voice ever! Wish things were different but he has released an album in 2016, will be trying to get it!
Welcome to the first halt in my blogs, well, if you force a workaholic to stay indoors 24×7 she either goes crazy, becomes an expert home-minister or picks up extremely time-consuming hobbies and dedicates her 200% to it!
That is what I have been doing since 2009, since relentless heckling of a gang of ghouls robbed me off my lifelong dream of having a career and forced me to stay at home. Initially it was tough for a woman like me, who never wanted to be anything but a career woman, but then, blessed me, I was bitten by writing bug, encouraged by favourable winds (readers) it became my full fledged passion, and illustration joined. Now, writing comes to me in a flow, so I usually write very quickly (I took professional training in typewriting quite seriously so my typing speed is really fast), but lucky for me illustrations take time, long time so I spend my time with these two newly picked up hobbies, that is since 2008 or 2009.
I took all the normal steps- blogged like crazy I have at present 17 blogs and believe me they are driving me nuts. I have self-published in Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/author/sharmishthabasu) that was elation and tragedy! Elation in publicity wise and tragedy in sale-wise! But my workaholic brain and muse won’t leave me in peace, I could not create my own library in Amazon! Come on! So an idea popped up (courtesy goes to Jonathan Ojanpera) and I started my own Ezines- Agnishatdal and Agnijaat, you can buy them via my patreon id, they are now one year old (1 year was on 17th July 2017) – Now, this was the best idea that came to me since sending my first scribbling to MSN’s reader’s archive!
Next landmark step was Agnijashatadalama- my online store which is waiting for a real bank account which will act normally in collaboration with my paypal account.
Surprise elation was illustrating Kevin Cooper’s Reflections:
and I have bagged another assignment from him, if luck permits and he likes my work you will be knowing about it real soon! I mean by March or April 2018!
But heck I am not a millionaire actually it is my brother’s generosity that I get food on my plate and clothes on my back! Honestly! So I constantly keep trying to make my only skill into my livelihood! Writing and illustration! Now, when one after another compliments your work that hints you can try your luck with them, so I started trying different avenues and at present I am trying my level-best with Patreon, the site is very co-operative it allows one to keep their money with them till they can withdraw it, my problem is hilarious, I have a bank account but that does not accepts foreign checks or EFT. To work on that – honestly I need serious income from Patreon, Amazon ($0.00 in last six months) or some other miraculous source, so I am not fretting on that! Instead of that I am trying to build a steady group of patrons in patreon, and entertain my muse with the organized creativity involved in that “patron building process”!
