Vijayadashami- the final day

In the morning the mangalghat is immersed in water, with that the Goddess leaves the clay idol, in the evening the idol is carried to nearby water body and immersed there. Five days of festivities are over and wait for another year begins!

Mahashtami – the third day

Mahashtami is the D day of Durgapuja, Mother Goddess have slain the buffalo demon on Mahashtami Sandhikshan in Spring Durgapuja or Basantipuja, and Ramchandra killed Ravana on Mahashtami Sandhikshan, Sandhikshan is when Ashtami and Navami meet. No Hindu tithis don’t follow clocks or common calendars. Every home that holds puja in orthodox way offers own special puja to the Goddess on this day.

Shubho Mahasaptami!

Mahasaptami- the second day

On this dawn the priests go to nearby river and fill up a clay pitcher with river water after performing puja, that pitcher becomes the mangalghat- the holy ghat, the symbol of Goddess herself. The ghat is brought back to the altar and placed near the Goddess till Vijayadashami.
